About Dan Sinkhorn

Dan Sinkhorn is a longtime pastor, author, and leadership guide whose work centers on pastoral authority, church health, and the deeper inner life of ministry.

His coaching grows out of decades of lived pastoral experience—walking with congregations through seasons of growth, conflict, renewal, and transition. Rather than offering abstract solutions, his approach is grounded in the real dynamics of local church life and the weight carried by those called to lead.

He serves in the Global Methodist Church’s Great Lakes Annual Conference and remains actively engaged in the life of the church while writing and teaching on leadership, renewal, and long-term faithfulness in ministry.

His work is focused on helping pastors remain steady, clear, and faithful in the real life of ministry.

A Pastoral Approach

Pastoral leadership is not primarily about technique—it is about steadiness, clarity, and faithfulness under weight.

Healthy leadership cannot be reduced to strategy alone. It requires spiritual maturity, honest self-awareness, and a willingness to remain present in difficult seasons without losing direction.

This work exists to help pastors navigate those realities with clarity, courage, and a grounded sense of calling.

Writing & Teaching

Dan’s writing extends the same themes found in his coaching work—pastoral authority, renewal, leadership under pressure, and long-term faithfulness in ministry.

His books are written for pastors and church leaders navigating the real, often unseen challenges of leadership in the local church.

Dan’s books explore the realities of pastoral leadership in the life of the church—particularly the weight of authority, the necessity of inner formation, and the lived relationship between shepherd and congregation.

Bearing the Weight: Pastoral Authority in Burdened Times examines the challenges pastors face when leadership requires clarity without consensus.
Authority That Stays: The Interior Life of Pastoral Authority turns inward, focusing on the spiritual and emotional formation necessary to carry that responsibility faithfully.
The Shepherd and the Flock brings these themes into the daily life of the church, offering a grounded vision of pastoral leadership shaped by real relationships, real tensions, and long-term faithfulness.

A forthcoming book explores the experience and impact of a carefully structured pastoral renewal leave—offering a grounded vision of rest, reorientation, and faithful return to ministry.
